Celebrating 52 years of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and promoting accessibility in employment

Sept. 24, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

This Friday, Sept. 26, marks the 52nd anniversary of the passage of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, a landmark civil rights law introduced to promote greater opportunities for individuals with disabilities in service delivery and employment, which laid the groundwork for the introduction of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Today, we honor this milestone while recognizing the work still ahead. As part of this effort, the Office of Human Resources and the Division of Administration and Finance invite employees to voluntarily disclose their disability status, as well as race, ethnicity, gender, or veteran status, through HR e-Campus. Directions for accessing HR e-Campus may be found here

Self-Identifying and Your Impact
By self-identifying, you help the University build a more inclusive workplace, strengthen our ability to support the University’s mission, and advance initiatives that foster a people-centered culture. Your responses also enable us to track progress, measure success, establish best practices, and allocate resources to support equal opportunity and the University’s strategic plan.

Confidentiality Statement
Your participation is voluntary and any information you share is confidential. Data gathered will be used in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and will be reported in aggregate form only. Personal identifying information will not be stored in your personnel file or shared with hiring authorities.
