The University is aware of an active shooter situation at Brown University this evening. There is no known threat to URI campuses at this time. We are continuing to monitor this situation and will provide updates to our community should they be necessary. 

For any community members in or near Providence, please avoid the area near Brown University.

As members of the Rhode Island and higher education communities, we are thinking of our colleagues and students at Brown.
