Dear URI Students,
The URI Police Department and Transportation and Parking (TAP) have recently become aware of a phishing scam targeting students—particularly first-year students. In this scam, individuals claim they can secure a parking permit for the semester by adding your vehicle information to their account in exchange for payment.
Please be aware that the only way to obtain a parking permit is by logging in with your SSO through the AIMS student portal or by contacting the TAP office directly.
If anyone contacts you offering a parking permit, or if you have purchased a “permit” from an unknown source, please report it immediately to the URI Police Department (Det. Brasil: 401-874-5580) or TAP (401-874-9281). Do not share personal information, identification, money, or contact details.
As a reminder, parking permits are non-transferable, non-shareable, and may be revoked by TAP at any time.
