On Saturday, May 9, the University of Rhode Island will welcome 1200 runners and their families to the Kingston Campus for the Girls on the Run Spring 5K. Guests will be arriving on campus between 8 and 9:30 a.m. for the race which will wind its way through campus with a race start and finish line on the University Quad.

In order to ensure the safety of runners, traffic on Upper College Road will be paused for a short time at the start of the 9:30 a.m. race and should re-open by 9:40 a.m. A URI Police detail will also be in place to help ensure safety of runners. While runners are directed to run on campus sidewalks following the initial start, motorists should be alert and use caution while traveling on campus.

Girls on the Run guests will be directed to park in Lot 6 off Bills Road. 

Please also note two additional events taking place on campus:

• The URI Cooperative Extension/CELS Spring Plant Sale is scheduled to take place in the Botanical Gardens from 9 a.m. to noon. Guests are directed to park in Lot 7 off Flagg Road.
• URI’s Talent Development Graduation Breakfast is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to noon in the Memorial Union. Guests are directed to park in Lot 1.
