Governor Chafee to Highlight Proposed Support for Higher Education



Providence, R.I. – March 9, 2011 – Governor Lincoln D. Chafee will travel across the state today, Wednesday, March 9, to highlight his proposed budget’s support for education – including full funding for the new Funding Formula for aid to education and a $10 million increase in funding for higher education.


This afternoon, Governor Chafee will hold a press conference at the University of Rhode Island’s Alumni Center to discuss his proposed budget’s $10 million increase in higher education funding. Governor Chafee will be joined by Lorne A. Adrain, his nominee to Chair the Board of Governors for Higher Education; Nancy Carriuolo, President of Rhode Island College; Ray M. Di Pasquale, President of the Community College of Rhode Island; and David M. Dooley, President of the University of Rhode Island.
