URI Career Services to hold Graduate School Expo, Oct. 30

KINGSTON, R.I. — October 17, 2001 — Representatives of fifty-two graduate school programs will fill the Memorial Union Ballroom when the University of Rhode Island’s Career Services office holds its second Graduate School Expo on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The program runs from 3 to 6 p.m.

Among the schools participating are the Albany Law School, Boston University School of Social Work, New England College of Optometry, Northeastern University’s various graduate programs, Quinnipiac University School of Law, Temple University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The program is free and open to the public.

In addition, the URI Graduate School and its individual programs will be represented fully. For a complete list of the schools participating, please click on http://career.uri.edu.

Peg Ferguson, URI assistant director of Career Services, said her department adjusted the time this year to allow more working people to attend.

“We have twice as many school participants as we did last year,” Ferguson said. “That’s probably a direct relationship to the economy. As the economy declines, education becomes more of an option.”

To assist those wishing to attend, a shuttle from the Keaney Gym parking lot to the Memorial Union is being sponsored by Enterprise rent-a-car.

“We are looking for juniors and seniors who are looking to enhance their career options, and alumni re-thinking their career paths,” Ferguson said.
