The University extends its condolences to the friends and family of Ronald D. Hedlund, 81, of Estero, Florida, who died peacefully on Feb. 25. During his career, he was a professor of political science for 50 years. In 1989, Ronald became vice provost for research and service at URI.

He joined Northeastern University in 1996 as vice provost for research and graduate education, retiring in 2016 as professor emeritus of political science.
