Full parking ban starts at midnight tonight, ending at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb 25.

With the National Weather Service forecasting a winter storm that will bring a mix of snow and rain to the region starting late tonight, the University has instituted a full parking ban, which starts at midnight tonight and will continue until 6 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 25.

The University has already announced that all classes on all campuses will be delivered virtually tomorrow. Students should check their email and Brightspace course site for course-specific remote learning expectations.

Safe Rides will end at midnight tonight and resume at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Shuttle service will be canceled all day tomorrow.

The University urges its campus community to exercise caution during the storm’s duration. During and after the storm, the Departments of Public Safety and Facilities Operations ask for your cooperation to help keep our community safe.

What a full parking ban means

No parking on:

  • Any roadway or roadside on the Kingston (including Flagg Road) or Narragansett Bay campuses
  • The parking spaces on the south side of Quarry Road located outside of ZBT and Hillel
  • The parking spaces on the uphill south side of Fraternity Circle outside Delta Zeta
  • All commuter lots
  • All faculty/staff lots

Approved parking:

  • Lots 26 and 27 (Keaney and Boss). Resident permit holders only; should park close together in the north end (closest to Mackal) of the Lot
  • Lot 1 (Briar Lane)
  • Students: Lots 20 and 22 resident permit holders only; should park close together
  • Fine Arts south (faculty, staff and students)
  • Facilities Services asks that all state vehicles park close together on the north side of any parking lot to facilitate snow removal

Be aware of these areas and park appropriately in approved locations. Vehicles parked in an area where no parking is permitted during a full parking ban will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense.
