That’s My Dad!
Sometimes, when we share more recent “vintage” photos, a wonderful thing happens—we hear from the folks in the photo, or from people who recognize the folks in the photo. This time, we heard from the person pictured, Kevin Daly ’75, as well as from two of his teammates.
Daly says the photo was from a photo shoot for The Providence Journal. He played goalie for URI from 1971–74. The coach at that time was Geza Henni, and Coach Henni’s son, Geza Henni Jr., is pictured in the background of the photo. Coach Henni, “was a great coach.” Daly says. “We made the NCAA playoffs in 1972 and lost to Harvard, 1-0.”
Daly’s teammates, William Garforth ’75 and Richard Eidler ’74, M.B.A. ’77, both wrote in to say they recognized Kevin, as well as Geza Henni Jr.
Garforth commented, “I was very proud to be a member of that team, which went to the NCAA Tournament.”
Daly adds, “I loved URI and still have many friends from my years there. I was a member of Theta Chi fraternity.”

Richard Eidler ’74, M.B.A. ’77, submitted this photo. The photo, he says, is “from the same era, the 1973 season.” He adds, “That is me on the left clearing the ball in front of Kevin Daly, the goalkeeper in your “Caption This” photo.”
