Music performance, music education

I am trying to find the happy in this new normal. I am certainly feeling constricted like everyone else, as much of my social life depends on spending time with friends at restaurants and public places. However, I am liking the quiet time with my new French bulldog puppy, Copley! He has given me light on some of the darker days. I am also reconnecting with many friends whom I never had the free time to consistently meet with—we are doing lots of Zoom calls and “dinners together”! I am the band director at Belmont High School in Belmont, Mass., so most of my day is centered around helping my student musicians. I also teach private flute lessons, so I have been working at teaching lessons to students via video—it is challenging, but they are going well! I am also doing a good amount of virtual yoga classes, which has been so fun and very challenging! I am so thankful for technology and the ability to connect with loved ones. I feel so much for URI’s class of 2020, as my graduation day on the Quad is one of my happiest life memories. I firmly believe that as a society, we will come out of this pandemic with more compassion, empathy, and gratefulness for the little things in life.
